That’s Jeffervescent! – by Jefferson Airplane
This is (or what remains of) the cardboard tube that used to hold toilet roll.
You may remember my fascination with full toilet rolls. I love to see if I can open bags of toilet rolls, or sneak into the bathroom and take one, or simply drag the paper off the roll and run and run until my grand plan to toilet paper the house is intercepted, literally, when Human breaks the paper and I am left holding a streamer. While a 20 foot streamer is still quite an accomplishment, I am yet to empty a whole roll this way. Anyway, my interest in toilet rolls is one that is shared by Howard. So between us, I think one day we are going to manage to empty a roll.
In the meantime, Human lets us have the cardboard tubes to tear to pieces when a roll is finished. And this is an interest we share also with the kitties. So there is usually a queue of us waiting to get the cardboard tube when it is ready to roll … so to speak.
I just don’t know what it is about the toilet roll tube. But we quite simply love them. I guess it is the cardboard. Did you know that cardboard is such an amazing thing that even a Brontë mentioned it? It is in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë. I am not sure if the cardboard is a central plot device, but obviously it is important to be there. I am also not sure if it was a toilet roll tube.
A novel starring cardboard? That’s Jeffervescent!
