Let’s meet Queen Victoria!

Queen Victoria: I was abandoned by my owners in Spain quite a few years ago now. I was just left in the middle of nowhere. I set up a little home for myself in a Spanish ravine and I stayed there for years. There were some people in a neighbouring village who tried to catch me but they never could. After about 4 or 5 years, and several litters of puppies, they finally caught me. As you can probably imagine I am very shy. But I am obviously very smart as I managed to live for so long on my own wits.

BTD: And how will you make the big journey to the UK?

Queen Victoria: Terrier SOS UK were contacted to help me. Although the pererra was one that would allow all dogs to stay as long as there is kennel space, the kennels were filling quickly and I was not the most adoptable dog. I spent most of my time hiding. I was running out of time. And so Terrier SOS UK came to my rescue. I may have been abandoned by my first humans, but so many wonderful humans have come to my aid ever since. From the people in the village who left me food and 908439D8-67C8-4E27-B613-8ACBD55AFF1Aworked so hard to catch me, to the wonderful people with Terrier SOS who are bringing me to the UK, I have really met some amazing humans in my time. I had leishmaniasis when they found me and this has been treated in Spain. I had to spend some time rehabilitating in Spain before I could travel to the UK in April. But luckily I have a lot of very caring humans looking after me since my rescue.

BTD: And how do you feel about humans now?

Queen Victoria: Well, I am still shy, but I am clever. I have got to know the routine of my volunteers in the kennels. I wait at the front of the kennel for them at their usual visiting time. I really love seeing them.

BTD: What are your plans for the future?

Queen Victoria: I am an older lady now, about 8 or 9 years, and I have had a really challenging life. I think I would like to settle down in a loving home, relax with my human, and tell them all my amazing stories.

BTD: What does it mean to be part of 30 for 30?

Queen Victoria: We are amused! In fact, I am overjoyed!
