Ode to Chouquette, by Donnie.

There’s a line in a movie that reminds me of Chouquette and me. It’s a little romantic movie called Avatar. It has to be right up there with other cinema classics, like Casablanca, and maybe even The Secret Life of Pets.  And there is a line in Avatar that pretty much sums up how Chouquette and I met. Jake Sully says, “I see you.” And then Neytiri says, “I see you.”

And that is so much like my love story with Chouquette that it is spooky. She walked in. I went over and said, “I see you.” And she said back, “I see you.” And after that we were inseparable.

Our first meeting was so amazing. Because all my life, it had been like no-one could see me. I was ignored. And eventually, I was forgotten. But Chouquette was different. She saw me. And the rest is history.
