That’s News to Me!
Daily dog news from around the globe
Dogs and cats have moved into the Blue House with the President of South Korea.
President Moon Jae-In is known for his love of animals and has included in his policies a promise to improve the lives of animals in South Korea. And so it should come as no surprise that moving his many companions into the Blue House was one of the first points of business for the new President.
First to arrive was the First Cat, Jjingjing, who was rescued from the streets by the President. And he has now been joined by Maru the Pungsan dog, a rare breed that is relatively unknown outside Korea. Maru is an older dog and was thinking of staying with President Moon’s daughter. But he went to see the vet and got the all clear to move into the Blue House to assume his duties as the First Dog.
President Moon is a famous animal love has rescued many animals, including stray dog Jisoon, chickens, and the soon to arrive Tory. Tory was rescued by a local animal rights group two years ago, saving him from slaughter in the meat trade. But being a black crossbreed, Tory was struggling to be adopted. So the President stepped in and offered him a home, and he should be settling into his new bed in the Blue House any day now.
If there’s one thing that should be in any official residence, it’s animals. And if they are rescue animals, then that’s even better!
