Measure for Pleasure

That’s Jeffervescent! – by Jefferson Airplane

This is a tape measure.

It used to have a strap for hanging it up. But I decided that was cumbersome and removed it.

Tape measures are quite important things. In fact, they are so important that every 14 July is National Tape Measure Day in the United States. National Tape Measure Day is observed by buying a tape measure and then measuring … a lot. As far as the measuring is concerned, I am wondering if every day around here is Tape Measure Day.

You see, Human likes tape measures so much that there seems to be one in every room. I think it is probably because Human is constantly measuring walls for bookshelves or furniture or something. The whole house is a like a game of Tetris as Human tries to squeeze in yet another book.

Anyway, Human says I cannot play with the measuring tape. I don’t know if this is because it is so precious. Or maybe it is because I am small and may not measure up. Or maybe it is because I am larger than life, and so I am beyond measure. Or maybe I will just break it, resulting in desperate measures the next time another book needs to be added to the puzzle.

So, for good measure, I agreed that Human could have the measuring tape, and I decided to play with a pile of cardboard instead.

Going the distance? That’s Jeffervescent!
