This is my football.

It is imperfectly round, imperfectly bouncy, but perfectly soft.

It was one of Leo’s favourites, because it would double as a pillow and pillows are, of course, one of the most essential items in a modern dog’s day.

They say that dogs like ball games because they like to chase. But no-one in my family chases and fetches balls. Huw actually finds ball games are incompatible with his lifestyle, and Aubrey just can’t see the sense of it. I will be tempted, however, if they squeak.

This one doesn’t squeak, but I love it all the same. It is soft and cuddly. I think my instinct to cuddle is stronger than my instinct to chase.
