That's Jeffervescent!

Where’s the Fire?

That’s Jeffervescent! – by Jefferson Airplane

This is my fire engine.

You may remember my friend, the wooden chicken. Well, the fire engine was sitting near her at the same fireplace. I presume it was there in case the fireplace got out of hand.

Anyway, as a wooden toy, I found it to be irresistible. So, I got all fired up and retrieved the fire engine to play with as well.

Now, I’ve heard that if you play with fire, you get burnt. But I’m not sure what happens if you play with a fire engine. I think then you just get a bit sooty.

Did you know there’s a term, “fire-spaniel”, which is someone who just loves the fire and never wants to leave it? Well, perhaps there should be a new term, “fire terrier”, for someone who just loves all the objects near the fireplace and picks them all up and carries them all away.

I started with pine cones, then a wooden truck, then the chicken, and now the fire engine. I have a wooden train engine left to go and then I will have collected all the fireplace paraphernalia. I think the common element is wood, not fire, however. That’s why I draw the line at the fireplace tools. These look like no fun at all.

Best of all, apparently there are a lot of wooden toys in all the Christmas markets each year. I can’t wait! My first Christmas! I was only a couple of weeks old at the last one and was still trapped in a cage in a puppy farm. So this Christmas is very special for me.

A toy made of wood? That’s Jeffervescent!
